Pirate Party

We have the most awesome sister in our ward (Gretchen Lewis), who organizes super fun summer activities for the little kids in our ward.  Today she kicked off the summer with a super fun Pirate Party, which included activities like making skeletons out of wire, playing in a “pirate ship” and watching leaf boats float in the water table.

Of course, the biggest hit was digging up Buried Treasure!

Gretchen is the “pirate” filming the unearthing of the “buried treasure” above.  She is so awesome!  Ashilene was content to stay in the background with the shovel until the main crowd cleared, when she gathered up the courage to go check out all the surprises in the buried treasure chest.  She was excited to get to take home some “gold coins” and a fancy pink ring!

One of Ashilene’s very favorite things to do at Gretchen’s house is play in the super cool playhouse that they built in the backyard.  The blue object that Ashilene has in her hand in many of these pictures is a big calculator that she refers to as her “workstation”.  She likes to take it places, as if it were her own personal laptop.  At home, she likes to set it up on her table and “type” away at her “workstation”.  It’s pretty cute!
